FLY Open Air Festival
The Brief
Early this Summer, our production team were contacted by FLY Open Air Music Festival who required new giant letters to be custom made, which would be displayed at Hopetoun House, on the grounds of the festival.
The client required the letters to be 6ft tall, sturdy and with a metallic finish.We also had to build the letters in a way that they would be able to be secured firmly to the ground.
The Solution
Our production team got to work by firstly sketching out the proposed letters, including the dimensions and outlining the materials which would be used to construct the letters. We then provided a CAD drawing to present more of a formal representation of the letters.
Once the letters were signed off, production got underway. Sheets of wood were cut to shape for the letters using our in-house CNC machine, ensuring letter matched the exact FLY font and branding.
Each letter was cut and assembled before being sanded. A black base coat was applied before the application of the metallic paint to give then the desired finish.
Once completed, our team created the base for each letter. A vital part of the build was that each base was to be firmly secured to the foot of each letter. The bases were then completed with artificial grass to tie in with the surrounding of where they would be displayed.
The Results
As you can see from our images, the results were spectacular. The letters were in-line with FLY’s brand, were incredibly impactful, and were a hit with festival-goers!
It’s hard to put an exact number on how many photos in which the letters featured, but from a quick search across social media platforms, we can see countless images, proving the letters to be a huge hit.
And not only were they a success for this year’s festival, but they’ll be ready to do it all over again next year, providing more wonderful photo opportunities for those attending the festival.
